It is never easy picking a winner of a photography competition. You have to find an image that best fits the category while also being original, and technically well executed. It is even harder when the overall quality, and quantity, of submission is of a high standard. This was the situation we found ourselves in this morning when trying to pick the winners for the 2018 Birmingham Photography Festival Quick Fire Competition. Martin, Beth, and I spent the best part of the day trying to come to a unanimous decision over who should win each of the 6 categories; architecture, my view, and street taken on camera and phone. This was no easy task, and we would all like to sincerely thank and congratulate every single person for submitting such amazing shots to the competition. So without further delay, the winners of the 2018 Birmingham Photography Festival Quick Fire Competition are as follows:
Camera – Frank Gresham
Phone – Pat Sneddon
My View Category:
Camera – Stevie Spencer
Phone – Somsoll Abdin
Camera – James Sharp
Phone – Peter Vale
We also opened the competition up to two wildcard entries in any category. The wildcard winners are:
The 8 winners will be invited to a VIP evening in a location that arguably has Birmingham’s best views: the Staying Cool Penthouse apartments on the very top floor of the iconic Rotunda.
As the sun sets and night falls, you will have the opportunity to photograph the city from above while enjoying drinks and nibbles and an enjoyable evening with other photographers, the festival organisers and some of the festival speakers.
Winners will be contacted by email shortly with full details of the event.
